Vitasta School of Law Organizes Lively Parliamentary Debate on Waqf Amendment
Nowgam, Srinagar – April 29, 2025:
Vitasta School of Law, Nowgam Srinagar, today hosted a thought-provoking and dynamic debate on the theme "Waqf Amendment: Guardians of Heritage or State Control?". The event uniquely simulated parliamentary proceedings, with students divided into two groups representing the government and the opposition benches.
The "government" side ardently defended the recent waqf amendments, emphasizing administrative efficiency and protection of waqf properties. In contrast, the "opposition" raised concerns over potential state overreach and dilution of community autonomy. The debate saw a spirited exchange of arguments, mirroring the decorum and procedure of actual legislative sessions, and was executed with remarkable precision and enthusiasm by the participants.
The event drew an audience of approximately 400 students, alongside faculty members who lauded the intellectual engagement and oratory skills displayed by the debaters.
In the individual awards category, Mr. Danish clinched the first position, followed by Mr. Abrar in second place, and Miss Souliha securing third place.
The event was meticulously organized under the guidance of Mr. Umar Rather and Mrs. Nowsheen, Incharges of Debates and Seminars. Principal Mr. Rakib Ahmad Zia graced the occasion and delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating the efforts of the organizers and participants for making the event a resounding success.
The debate not only fostered legal and political awareness among students but also served as a platform to hone public speaking and analytical reasoning skills.
*LAPIDARY FOUNDATION VISITS VITASTA SCHOOL OF LAW AND HUMANITIES*

The Lapidary Foundation, a renowned organization dedicated to promoting legal education and excellence, paid a visit to Vitasta School of Law and Humanities today. The event saw a fruitful interaction session between Adv. Talha Salaria, Trustee of the Lapidary Foundation, and students of the senior semesters.
During the session, Adv. Talha Salaria delivered a comprehensive presentation, elucidating key aspects of the foundation's initiatives and objectives. The students benefited greatly from the insightful discussion, which was facilitated through a well-structured PowerPoint presentation.
The event was well-attended by students of the senior semesters, as well as Mr. Rakib Ahmad Zia, Principal of Vitasta School of Law and Humanities. The Event Incharge, Miss Shazia Sagar Durrani, and Mrs. Uzma Yaqoob were also present throughout the session, ensuring its smooth execution.
The primary objective of this collaboration is to provide a 9-month paid practical program designed to enhance the drafting and communication skills of senior law students, providing them with hands-on experience and industry exposure.
In her concluding remarks, Miss Shazia Sagar Durrani shared inspiring words and expressed gratitude to the Lapidary Foundation for their visit. She also extended special appreciation to one of the volunteers from the Talha Salaria group, a distinguished alumnus of Vitasta School of Law and Humanities.

Bahar-e-Ramadhan Event Organised by Vitasta School of Law
Srinagar, 25th March 2025 The Vitasta School of Law, Nowgam Bye-Pass, Srinagar, organised a spiritually enriching event, Bahar-e-Ramadhan, to highlight the significance of the holy month of Ramadhan and its numerous benefits. The event brought together participants who eloquently shared their insights on the spiritual, moral, and social aspects of fasting and self-discipline during this sacred month.
The programme was chaired by the esteemed Principal, Mr. Rakib Ahmad Zia, who emphasized the transformative power of Ramadhan in fostering patience, empathy, and self-purification. The event was skillfully coordinated by Mrs. Nowsheen, ensuring its smooth execution.
Participants delivered thought-provoking speeches, shedding light on the values of charity, devotion, and self-restraint that define the essence of Ramadhan. In recognition of their outstanding performances, top performers were awarded, encouraging students to continue their pursuit of knowledge and faith.
The event concluded with a note of gratitude to the faculty, students, and organisers for making Bahar-e-Ramadhan a BH memorable and enlightening experience.
