The 2nd National Lok Adalat was successfully held on 09th May 2026 at the District Court Complex Moomin Abad, Srinagar, under the guidance and supervision of the Hon’ble Principal and District Judge and District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar. The National Lok Adalat witnessed active participation from Judicial Officers, members of the Bar, litigants, representatives from various departments, banks, insurance companies, legal service institutions, and law students.
Students of Vitasta School of Law also participated in the proceedings of the National Lok Adalat as part of their academic and practical legal exposure. The students were accompanied by Incharge Faculty Ms. Fatima Shah, who guided and supervised the student delegation during the visit. The participating students observed various proceedings and gained practical insight into the functioning of Lok Adalats, dispute resolution mechanisms, and the importance of alternative dispute resolution in ensuring speedy and affordable justice to the people.
The proceedings were conducted in a cordial and litigant-friendly atmosphere with emphasis on amicable settlement of disputes. Several cases relating to civil disputes, bank recovery matters, MACT cases, matrimonial disputes, compoundable offences, and other matters were taken up for settlement through mutual consent.
The District Legal Services Authority, Srinagar, appreciated the cooperation and participation of all stakeholders, including members of the legal fraternity and academic institutions, in making the National Lok Adalat a successful initiative.
The event reaffirmed the commitment of legal services institutions towards promoting access to justice and spreading legal awareness among the public as well as budding legal professionals.
