Vitasta School of Law and Humanities Conducts Legal Literacy Camp in Gogaldara, Baramulla

– In a significant initiative to bridge the gap between the community and the legal system, the Vitasta School of Law and Humanities today organized an extensive Legal Literacy Programme in the Gogaldara area of District Baramulla. The programme was conducted as an integral part of the academic curriculum for the subject of Public Interest Lawyering.

The initiative was spearheaded by Mrs. Nosheen Ismail, Teacher Incharge of Public Interest Lawyering, and Mrs. Samreena Mehraj, Teacher Incharge of Legal Literacy, who accompanied and guided the students throughout the tour.

The student cohort was strategically divided into multiple groups to maximize outreach and provide legal awareness across the entire village. The team was warmly welcomed by the local residents, who interacted with the students with great enthusiasm and appreciation.

The programme saw diverse engagements from the student teams:

· One group, led by Jenab Shahid Manzoor along with students Sameer, Mehran, and Ishfaq, visited the Government High School in the area. They held a constructive dialogue with the school principal, inquiring about the existing facilities and protocols for students facing harassment or other issues, and elucidated key legal principles relevant to educational institutions.

· Another team, under the leadership of Jenab Faizan Fayaz, engaged with a senior citizen of the village. The resident openly shared the grievances faced by the community. Jenab Fayaz explained the procedural mechanisms through which citizens can hold public authorities accountable and offered potential solutions. The interaction concluded on a heartfelt note, with the villager’s son presenting the team with a bucket of apples as a token of gratitude.

· A team comprising Mtr. Asloob Shakeel, Rabiyah Bhat, and Toiba Mir interacted with various citizens, with a special focus on engaging with young children. The interaction brought immense joy to the children, creating a memorable experience for both the students and the young souls.

The efforts of the entire delegation were instrumental in the event's success. The female student team, including Mtr. Sahiba Naveed, Mansha, Misbah Khan, and Sobiya Ishaq, along with all the male students—Hayat Ubaid, Jehangir Manzoor, Shehzad Yousuf, Qammar Iqbal Chowdary, Sahil Nazir, Safeer Chowdary, Arfat, Uneeb, Arif, and others—provided unwavering support to ensure the event proceeded smoothly. Mtr. Sadaf Ayoub played a pivotal role by meticulously documenting the entire programme.

Concluding the day's events, Jenab Faizan Fayaz delivered a formal vote of thanks. He expressed profound gratitude to the Principal of Vitasta School of Law and Humanities, Jenab Rakib Ahmad Zia, for his unwavering support in facilitating and arranging the programme. Although the Principal could not be physically present, he remained in constant contact with the Teacher Incharges, whose on-ground presence and guidance were crucial to the initiative's success.

The Legal Literacy Programme stands as a testament to Vitasta School of Law and Humanities' commitment to practical, community-oriented legal education and its dedication to empowering citizens through awareness of their rights and legal procedures.
